"The Tinkertoy Connection"
Featured Exhibit:
TINK-A-SAURUS
Back in the late 1980's, I built this 8' tall and 35' long dinosaur out of Giant Tinkertoys and named him TINK-A-SAURUS. Decades later, he's still circled around my living room/office, keeping me company while I work and play. His neck is 23 pieces; his body and legs are 90 pieces; and his tail is 36 pieces --- 149 pieces in all.
In TINK's early days, he slowly walked around the room, taking a few steps forward every 6-12 months or so. He circled the room several times in his lifetime... even poked his head into the bathroom once for a few weeks! But he's gotten rather sedentary in his old age and has been quite content to stay right where is for the past decade or so.
Before TINK was born, my kids and I often built other fabulous and imaginative things with this wonderful toy set. You'll find photos of several of them below after some TINK-A-SAURUS close-ups. You may also notice on the wall in the background of the second picture down from here, my old photo display of some of the other creatures we created.
(Sorry about the red smudges on the TINK photos below. I rubber stamped my name and address on the backs and although the ink was long dry when I put them in my photo drawer, when I took them out to scan them, they were all stuck together and the ink came off on the photos. Some year maybe I'll photoshop it off; until then, please enjoy them as is.)
Other Tinkertoy Creatures:
Horned Tinkbug [Pentitinkinae unicornius]
Great Tinkerfly [Musca tinkitus]
Common Whir Beetle [Coleoptinka rotari]
